The Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), New Delhi, in collaboration with the National Institute of Technology Puducherry (NITPY), inaugurated a five-day workshop on “Theatre in Education” at the NITPY campus in Karaikal. The training programme, running from July 6 to July 10, 2026, has brought together 108 in-service teacher participants from various schools across Karaikal and Puducherry.
Inaugurating the event, Chief Guest Dr. Makarand Madhav Gangarekar, Director, NITPY, appreciated CCRT’s efforts in cultural education and urged teachers to integrate the acquired theatre skills into their daily teaching practices. Guest of Honour, Mrs. V. Vijaya Rani, Chief Education Officer, Karaikal, highlighted the vital dimensions and educational applications of theatre.
The ceremony, which included a welcome address by Dr. Amrit Bhide and a programme outline by Mr. Deva Ram Meghwal (Field Officer, CCRT), was also attended by Dr. S Sundarvardhan, Registrar, NIT and Dr. Hargovindan, Dean (R&C) , NIT
